What the colours on a card mean
- Green — governmentA county, state or federal body. Staff are often mandated reporters and records may be shared between agencies. Usually still the best help available.
- Yellow — law enforcementPolice, sheriff, marshal, courts, or an agency that refers into them. Contact here can start a report you cannot take back.
- Blue — religious affiliationRun by a church, ministry or other faith group. Most serve anyone. Some ask you to sit through a service or a conversation first.
- Amber edge — not confirmedHours are missing, or nobody has re-checked the listing in six months. Call ahead, then fix the card.
People decide these tags, not the software. A card can carry more than one — a county animal control office is usually government and law enforcement both. A card with no colour has not been reviewed yet; it does not mean the answer is no. If a tag looks wrong, say so and a volunteer will change it.
